Let’s dive in.

5. 1-2-Switch

1-2-Switch is a great game to buy a child if you want them to spend time with the family. And although it is a multiplayer-only game, that means everyone in the family can (and probably should) play together. There are tons of mini-games to choose from, each one different from the last. These mini-games make use of certain features of the Switch controllers, such as the Joycons’ improved rumble feature. It can also be fun to watch other people

4. Rayman Legends Definitive Edition

Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition is a Nintendo Switch remake of Raymon Legends. It is a fun platformer game where you play as one of four characters with different special moves. You guide these characters through various (zany) levels as they defeat enemies and rescue those in need.

Each of these characters also has different outfits that you can unlock or purchase with in-game currency. The colors in the game work very well together, especially in regards to the different characters. And the sound design is impeccable. This is also a great game for multiple people since up to four people can play together.

3. Lego Worlds

Lego Worlds is an open-world, Minecraft-style game solely made of Lego blocks. The player has the ability to change the world as they see fit. The player can create anything, including mountains and islands, and they can explore their world however they see fit, whether that be riding on the back of a dragon or riding around on a motorcycle. At the start of the game. they are an astronaut, but the farther they progress into the game, the more they can change their character.

2. Skylanders Imaginators

The Skylanders franchise has been around since 2011 – and its popularity hasn’t waned in all of those years, especially with kids. This specific variation allows for players to create their own Skylanders in-game, as long as they have the correct creation crystal for the type they want to make.

So while it can be a bit pricey to get your child hooked on Skylanders, it’s an investment that keeps giving back year after year. Activision provides massive support for the game and the figures double as toys – so you’re getting double the bang for your proverbial buck.

1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Mario Kart is always a big hit with children. This specific version is a re-release of the version for Wii U. However, the Switch version of Mario Kart 8 comes with all of the DLC characters and races from the Wii U version. With a large variety of tracks on which to compete, and a plethora of characters to race as, this game is highly replayable. And di we mention up to four players can face off to see who’s the king of the track?

While all of these games vary in type from each other, they are all great for children. And even better? The whole family can get in on the action, too!
